Walking Through Our Paint Protection Film Installation Process
Preparing Your Paintwork
A vehicle receiving our paint protection film products goes through a thorough cleaning of its paintwork to remove any dirt, dust, residual wax, or various contaminants that could affect the adhesion of the film. Our expert technicians then inspect the vehicle's paint surface for any imperfections, scratches, or other issues that need addressing before moving on to the actual application of the PPF. If necessary, minor paint correction may be performed at this stage to ensure a smooth surface.
Applying the Paint Protection Film
Custom shapes are cut from the film that fit the make and model of your vehicle at the time of your appointment. To install these pieces, we make a mixture of water and a special application solution that gets applied to both the vehicle's surface and the adhesive side of your PPF. This allows us to easily position and adjust the film during the hand application process. The cut PPF pieces are carefully positioned and applied to the vehicle's surface, starting from one end and gradually working to the other. Our trained staff at Prestige Pro Care will use squeegees and other tools to remove air bubbles and ensure a smooth and even application.
Final Smoothing Before Allowing Curing
Once the film has been applied to your vehicle, any excess material is trimmed and the edges are carefully wrapped to ensure a seamless and completely blended appearance. We do NOT want you to experience any obvious signs of your PPF being misaligned or rippled. We also use heat guns to activate the adhesive properties of the film, ensuring a strong bond with the vehicle's paint. The heat also helps in contouring the film to complex curves and edges. The PPF will continue to cure and dry the recommended period of time to ensure a strong and long-lasting bond with the vehicle's surface.
